Exploring the World
through Documentaries
This workshop uses documentaries featuring diverse stories of people from around the world.
It introduces a range of documentaries on topics such as poverty, refugees, the environment, human rights, war, peace, solidarity, and diversity, and provides activity guides for using these documentaries in the classroom.
The workshop is activity-based, engaging participants in individual and small group tasks before and after watching the films.

Key Contents
This workshop invites participants to explore urgent global issues through short documentaries that capture the real stories of people around the world — stories unfolding even at this very moment.
Through the courage of those who share their own stories, or the stories of their communities,
we are given a window into the present lives of others across the globe, and are inspired to reflect, imagine, and act for a better shared tomorrow.
The workshop also provides a guide on classroom activities, offering practical ideas for educators to bring these documentaries into their teaching.
In this dialogue‑driven, hands‑on workshop, participants will design their own lessons, using the guide to spark rich conversations and meaningful learning experiences with their students.
Learning Flow
The workshop is structured around the PERA method, incorporating a practical activity guide
that participants can adapt and implement in their own classrooms.

Prepare
Before watching the documentary,
participants are introduced to the topic and background.
The workshop presents guiding questions that help connect the theme of the lesson (e.g., SDGs, human rights, peace, environment)
to the participants’ own experiences and perspectives.

Engage
Participants watch the selected documentary together.
They are provided with a worksheet (guide material) to help them engage with and recall the content in a concrete and detailed way.
The workshop also presents questions and discussion prompts to help participants prepare for meaningful dialogue.

Reflect
Based on the thoughts and feelings they recorded while watching the documentary,
participants engage in dialogue-based activities.
They take time to reflect deeply on their own perspectives while also listening to and exploring the diverse views and opinions of others.
Act

Reflecting on the previous activities, participation activities are presented for each individual.
Actions connected to the topic that can be put into practice are considered and shared.
These activities broadly cover a range from personal commitment to change to more active participation, such as designing a campaign.
