Interactive Workshop Using
the SDGs Workbook

Ending poverty, ensuring quality education and health, tackling inequality, protecting the environment, promoting gender equality, and advancing peace and justice...These challenges and values call for the global community to unite in working towards meaningful progress.

The topics addressed by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a global commitment shared by all countries, are familiar yet can sometimes feel difficult to incorporate into classroom teaching.

In this workshop, teachers will use the “Becoming Global Citizens in the Classroom” workbook designed to present the SDGs in a fun and accessible way. Participants will learn how to effectively introduce the SDGs to their students and develop their own lesson plans based on these goals.

Key Contents

This workshop encourages participants to explore and share their understanding of what the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are, and what they mean for each of us — not through one-way explanations, but through engaging, participatory activities.

The workshop goes beyond simply understanding each of the SDG targets. It aims to internalize the values they represent and emphasize the importance of individual change and participation in building a better society.

The goal is for teachers attending the workshop to deepen their understanding of the SDGs and discover ways to integrate them effectively into their own teaching.

Learning Flow

The workshop follows the flow of “Opening Hearts,” “Approaching Together,” and “Joining Hands.”

Opening Hearts

Participants begin by reflecting on opening questions related to each SDG theme and engaging with short comics that encourage thoughtful consideration of the topics.

These activities are designed to show how each theme connects to our daily lives, helping participants feel more familiar with the SDGs.

Approaching Together

Through stories from people around the world, current global issues, data, maps, games, and other diverse materials, participants gain a deeper understanding of the SDGs.

Moving beyond a one-way explanation, this workshop uses interactive activities to help each participant explore what the SDGs mean personally to them.

Joining Hands

For a better world for all of us, participants reflect on the changes they can try to make individually and the actions we can take together, then share their thoughts.

The workshop uses the workbook, 'Becoming Global Citizens in the Classroom (Secondary level)', developed by the Global Citizenship Education Research Group “Neuru” and APCEIU.

Participants will engage with worksheets and materials included in the book, along with data and statistics and video resources, to support a richer and more practical learning experience.
