Documentary Utilization Workshop

This workshop utilizes documentaries that tell the stories of people from all over the world.

It introduces documentaries on various topics such as poverty, refugees, environment, human rights, war, peace, solidarity, and diversity,

and provides an activity guide for classes utilizing documentaries.

This workshop is conducted as an activity-centered workshop where participants participate individually/in small groups before and after watching the documentary.

Key Contents

This workshop aims to convey what is happening all over the world right now through short documentaries that contain real stories of our global neighbors, and to learn about various social issues through these.

Through documentaries that courageously tell their own stories or those of their neighbors,

we can learn about the 'today' of people across the globe.

In particular, we provide an 'activity guide' that can be applied in class after participating in the workshop,

and provide opportunities for class planning through a dialogue-based workshop using this guide.

Workshop Structure

It will be conducted using the PERA technique and an ‘activity guide’ that can be applied to future classes.

Prepare

Understand the relevant topic and background before watching the documentary.

Introduce the topic of the class (e.g. SDGs, peace, human rights, global citizenship, etc.) by connecting it to the documentary.

Present questions that can connect the topic with the personal experiences/thoughts of the participants (learners).

Engage

Watch the documentary (we recommend watching it together in a classroom, workshop, etc.)

Provide activity sheets (guide materials) to help you remember the contents of the documentary in a specific and detailed way.

Prepare for the dialogue by providing questions and discussion topics.

Act

Organize your thoughts and feelings recorded while watching the documentary.

Based on this, engage in various dialogue activities and connect them to your existing thoughts/knowledge.

Dialogue activities include various activities such as writing reflection notes, small group discussions, topic conversations, and creative activities.

Take time to deeply look into your own thoughts and listen to the various perspectives and opinions of others.
